MySQL Hero
Think you know MySQL? Can you write lightning fast queries on a 500Mb database? How about 5Tb? Is developing a perfectly tuned index on a 600Gb table the best way to spend an afternoon? Do you look out the window in December and see schema designs in the snowflakes? Or see schemas in summer star fields? If so, you'd love working at Stickyeyes.
We want a MySQL guru to help develop our bleeding edge MySQL database. We're running a network of cluster replication MySQL servers which has grown from a few hundred megabytes to 5 terrabytes over the last 12 months and is set to double again in size within the next six months.
You'll be working on
- developing a columnar based data warehouse for use by our SEO team
- delivering real time reports through a web interface to paying clients
- snowflake schema design for the next generation of the technology
- migrating data from other star schema databases
You'll be working with state of the art Proliant servers and a cloud of servers located around the world. Needless to say you need to be very comfortable working with Linux, running MySQL jobs, MySQL replication, database administration and tuning MySQL to work with memory, iops, RAID and beefy CPUs.
Experience, interest or knowledge of PHP, Hadoop, HBASE, PIG, CouchDB, Drizzle or Cassandra would be beneficial.
You might have a degree or you might not. If you do the chances are it will be a 2:1 or first in computing or mathematics. Either way you'll have a solid history of MySQL jobs working with large MySQL databases. I doubt you'll bother mentioning that 20M Drupal database you were involved with as a teenager.
Stickyeyes offers competitive base salaries, performance related bonuses and a company share options scheme. We work in a fast, dynamic environment based in the centre of Leeds.
If you think I'd like to speak to you give me, Remo Biagioni, Head of R&D, a call on 0113 391 2929 or send your CV to remo@stickyeyes.com
