Hello and welcome to Digital Minute. This week we’re looking at a number of interesting new developments over at Instagram.

The first new feature is ‘Stories’, which allows users to capture and share multiple moments – a feature inspired by rival platform ‘Snapchat’.

It means that brands can now start to share much more immersive content through Instagram, displayed prominently on the app’s carousel.

Instagram has also introduced a number of interesting features for brand publishers, including the introduction of a ‘direct contact’ option, which will give users instant access to phone numbers, addresses and store directions.

The other key part of this development is the introduction of an insights tool, which is a key selling point to advertisers.

The tool will provide useful personality data around your follower base, including live monitoring all from a mobile device.

Instagram claims that this will help brands to drive real results from their social media campaigns by driving innovative and creative communities.
