We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that econsultancy has awarded us a prestigious ‘Innovation in Online PR’ Award for our work on the first ever foursquare race to The North Pole.

Motorcycle insurance specialist Carole Nash wanted to promote CEO David Newman’s charity trek to the North Pole and our team identified the opportunity for David to be the first to check in via location-based social networking service foursquare.

The campaign, which was covered by The Mirror, ABC News and Mashable amongst others as well as over 200 leading blogs, witnessed a watershed in the maturing of foursquare and was applauded by the econsultancy judging panel as “a serious commitment to innovation”.

Craig Chalmers, Managing Director at Stickyeyes, said: “To be awarded such a highly regarded, global award is testament to our commitment to create innovative solutions for our clients. Our research and development team had to investigate a number of technical considerations before the trek could be attempted ensuring the phone could work in -35 degree temperatures and developing technology to tether an android and satellite phone so David could check in when he arrived at his destination”.

As a result of the campaign, donations to the two charities, BASIC and Riders for Health soared along with Carole Nash’s rankings and visitor numbers”.

The awards, which attracted over 350 entries, were judged by an international panel including representatives from BBC, Mercedes-Benz, Dell, O2, Dupont and BT. Stickyeyes’ campaign was recognised alongside Dell, Jimmy Choo, CNN and British Airways in what econsultancy CEO Ashley Friedlein said was “a showcase for some of the best developments in this space over the last year.”
