As a Senior Developer you will have experience building distributed systems with PHP, MySQL, Linux, Zend Framework and cloud-based technologies, specifically Amazon Web Services, as well as being able to solve business problems in isolation.

Your core duties will include supporting the Head of Technical Development in producing technical specifications and undertaking the build process, either in isolation or as part of a team, primarily across our group’s web-based technology suite.

The role is suited to someone with a keen interest in search marketing, systems development and big data. You will ideally have some experience in managing project development cycles, application development processes and dealing with large datasets.

  • Providing technical expertise to ensure that solutions meet business requirements

  • Proposing improvements to team processes

What you'll need:

  • A proven record of producing high quality web and cloud based applications
  • Skilled in PHP, Apache, Linux, Zend Framework, MySQL, XML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • A strong understanding of general web and development standards
  • Experience with version control systems (SVN, GIT)
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services
  • Experience with queuing technologies such as RabbitMQ, Beanstalkd and Amazon SQS
  • Knowledge of microservice architecture
  • Knowledge of caching technologies (e.g. Redis, Memcache, Elasticache)
  • Knowledge of non-relational databases (e.g. CouchDB, DynamoDB)
  • Be able to work well within a team
  • Proactive approach to work
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • A keen interest in search marketing, systems development and big data
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office - predominantly Excel
  • Knowledge of Atlassian software - predominantly JIRA, Stash and Bamboo
  • IT related degree or equivalent commercial experience is preferred
